Between November 2010 and March 2011, a group of physicians with expertise in social media (with support from Pfizer) conducted an in-depth study focusing on how physicians use social media for personal and professional purpooses.  The study was produced to reduce the knowledge gap around how doctors are using social tools.  Some of the key findings of this research include:

  • Many physicians still rely on e-mail to share and collect medical knowledge
  • LinkedIn and RSS are not popular means of collecting health information
  • Few physicians are using Twitter and Facebook
