Noted non-profit and social media communications expert Beth Kanter has developed a framework designed to help non-profit organizations monitor social media more effectively and take action on the insights and information they find online.  The framework:

  • Helps non-profits understand why listening is important
  • Demonstrates how non-profits can become "listening organizations"
  • Outlines the skills required of effective social media listeners
  • Provides information about tools (free and fee) non-profits can use to listen effectively
  • Brings this advice to life via a case study focusing on how the Red Cross has begun to learn from and act on social media insights

Kanter has two presentations focusing on listening skills for non-profits, which appear below. In addition, see the additional resources section for more content by Kanter on non-profit social media listening skills.
