The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that the rate of HIV/AIDS has sharply increased in recent years. Specifically:
- 15% of new HIV/AIDS diagnoses and 19% of all AIDS diagnoses are in people over 50.
- 24% of persons living with HIV/AIDS and 29% of persons living with AIDS are over 50.
